How do I file a claim?
Easily submit a claim through our simple step-by-step online process. Just follow the steps and your claim will go to processing.

- You will need to be logged in to your XShield account.
If you don’t know the email or password for your account, then simply click on “forgot password”, or contact support. - Follow the step by step instructions to file your claim!
What do I need to file a claim?
To get the fastest possible service, make sure you are logged in, have an active XShield plan and have the below items on-hand when filing a claim.
- Your Insurance Policy: Make sure your insurance policy on file is updated.
- Your Insurance Claim : Before you can file a claim with XShield, you first need to submit a claim with your insurance carrier. Once your insurer has reviewed and accepted your claim you will need to submit the confirmation you received.

What happens after my claim is approved?
Once your claim is approved, XShield will send you a check for the amount covered in your plan. Simple and fast.
How long does it take for my claim to be approved?
Most claims are handled within 24 hours, once your claim is approved, you will receive a check with your covered amount.
Do I have to pay a deductible when filing a claim?
XShield is a deductible coverage plan, in case of a claim, you will not have to pay any deductible, your coverage plan will cover 100% of your auto insurance deductible.
My insurance denied my claim, can I still file a claim with XShield?
XShield is a deductible protection plan, this mean XShield only covers your deductible payment in case of an auto insurance claim.
If your insurance claim has been denied, this means there is no deductible for you to pay, hence your XShield deductible protection plan does not come into effect.
Can I still file a claim if I am not the policyholder?
XShield becomes active once you upload your insurance policy. We need to know what car, driver and deductible we are protecting, so only the policy holder on file can file a claim.
If there are multiple drivers and policies on a certain car, make sure you upgrade your plan to cover all drivers.

How do I check the status of my claim?
As soon as the status of a claim updates (e.g., your claim is approved or payment sent) we’ll send you an email letting you know. If you’re concerned about the status of a claim or have questions not answered in an email you received, click here to contact us.
Why does XShield need my insurance policy and car photos?
XShield provides the nations first full deductible protection plan. we will need to verify that you have an active insurance policy and that you are eligible for coverage.
XShield does not cover damage or claims that happened before you purchased your XShield plan. The photos help us verify that your car is eligible for our service.
Your insurance policy helps us verify your deductible protection plan matches your insurance policy deductible.
How long does it take for me to receive my reimbursement?
We process most payments within one business day. The time it will take for your reimbursement to arrive depends on the delivery location.
All checks are sent via USPS from our headquarters in San Francisco. As soon as your payment has been processed, we’ll send you an email updating you that it's on the way.
How many claims can I file?
XShield deductible plans include up to two successful claims within a 12 month plan.
What does XShield cover?
XShield covers 100% of your deductible in case of an auto insurance claim.
Specifically, the basic XShield deductible protection plan covers all deductibles on auto collision insurance policy claims.
Why should I get an XShield deductible protection plan?
For the same reason you have auto insurance, to have peace of mind and to potentially save money in case something happens.

What is a deductible?
A deductible is the amount of money you have to pay before your insurance kicks in. For example: If you were involved in an accident and the damage to your car is worth $2,500. When you have a $1,000 deductible this means you will pay $1,000 and your insurance will pay $1,500. With XShield you pay $0.
How car insurance deductible work?
With car insurance, every time you submit a claim you will have to pay a deductible. every time! It doesn't matter how many claims you submit a year or in the lifetime of your policy.
When do I need to pay a deductible?
Whenever you file a claim with your auto insurance. When your insurance pay - you pay.
Should I choose a high or low deductible?
Most people tend to choose a deductible that is somewhere in the middle, the reason is that the lower your deductible - the higher your premiums, and vise versa, the higher your deductible - the lower your premiums. XShield provides you with deductible coverage, so in case of a claim you will not pay your deductible, this provides an easy solution to this question - If your deductible is covered, you can afford to get a plan with high a higher deductible and pay less premiums! Is a high deductible good?
Well, since XShield covers 100% of your deductible, it is great because you will save money on your auto insurance premiums.
How can I find out what is my deductible?
Your deductible amount can be found on your insurance policy documents or on your proof of insurance card. If you cannot find your deductible amount, simply call your insurance company or agent and ask what your current deductible amount is.
When does my coverage start?
As soon as you complete your payment and upload the required documents you will receive a confirmation and your coverage will be active.
Please note, we do not cover damage and claims that occurred prior to your plan purchase.
Can I renew or extend a plan?
Sure, plans can be renewed through your dashboard or by contacting us.
I just purchased a plan, what do I need to know now?
Congratulations! You have just made your first step towards better coverage, now we need to do a few more things:
- Make sure your plan is active by uploading the required documents.
- Make sure you update your current auto insurance policy to a higher deductible and start saving on your premiums.

What does my plan cover and when does my coverage start?
Your coverage starts as soon as you activate your plan by uploading the required documents. You will receive an email confirmation from us as soon as your plan is active.
In case you have an auto insurance claim that has been approved by your insurance carrier, XShield will cover 100% of your deductible based on the plan you have purchased.
Standard Plans:
XShield covers auto insurance collision policy deductibles in case your claim was accepted by your insurer. XShield’s standard plan does not cover theft or nature / weather caused damage claims.
Specifically, we cover collision damage, accidents with another vehicle, accidents with property or other objects, vandalism, accidents with animals, hit and run, accidents with uninsured motorist.
What’s the difference between CDW (Collision Deductible Waiver) and XShield coverage?
A CDW only covers you in cases where you are involved in an accident with another vehicle, where you are not at fault and the other driver is uninsured.
XShield covers you above and beyond this specific case to ensure there aren’t ever gaps in coverage and your deductible stays protected.
How much am I covered?
You are covered for 100% of your deductible, based on the plan you purchased and the deductible of your collision insurance policy.
How long am I covered?
Depending on the plan you bought, you are covered for a specific amount of years, XShield currently offers 1 year and 3 years plans. Please see your protection plan contract for specific details.

What is the difference between XShield deductible protection plan and a CDW (collision deductible waiver)
A CDW is purchased from your insurance provider and covers your collision deductible costs only when involved in an accident with another vehicle, where you are not at fault and the other driver has no insurance.
XShield deductible protection plan covers 100% of your deductible in case of any collision policy claim.
How do I cancel my plan?
Simply log in to your account and navigate to manage plans, in the options select cancel plan.
You will receive an email confirmation and a refund for the remaining time of your plan.
Please note that you will not be refunded for the time your plan was active.
What info does XShield need to activate my plan?
In order to activate your purchased plan you will be required to upload the following:
- Copy of your driver's license
- Copy of your auto insurance policy
- 5 photos of your car - front, back, sides and roof.

What if a few people use my car?
No problem, XShield understands that cars are often shared within family members, you can add drivers to your plan at any time, simply update your plan, complete the additional payment and upload the additional drivers insurance policy.
Please note that XShield will only cover the policies that were uploaded to your purchased plans.
What is not covered by XShield?
XShield will not cover deductible claims for liability policy claims, mechanical repairs, nature and weather caused damage, medical claims, personal injury claims, road side assistance, towing and labor, theft.
XShield will not cover damage or claims that occurred prior to the activation of a purchased plan.
